The Team Awesomism Community app! As most of you know while I blog and do social media under the name of AwesomismMom. My business is actually called Team Awesomism!
this is a business that Peyton and I own together. So what exactly is this business? Well, it’s kind of a conglomeration of a lot of little pieces that are all put together to form a community for autistic adults. Just like in real life a community is a conglomeration of people, places things, etc. etc. so is our app.
Our focus is on autistic adults. There are not very many programs for autistic adults. So much focus goes on the children and I support the focus on the children, but I think we are leaving too many autistic adults behind.
Did you know that autistic adults have a 75 to 85% unemployment rate? Did you also know that they are 25% more likely to commit suicide than their peers? Many autistic adults feel very alone and feel like no one is out there that cares, this is wrong. Did you also know that many experts have put the number between 14 and 19% of the homeless population is actually autistic. The worst part about that is, not only are they not 14 to 19% of the population but that’s the ones that they’ve actually classified as autistic, and not mental health so the numbers are greater.
We have Team Awesomism, and we’re working to change that. This is why we had the app built. We want them to see a community, be a part of a community! Where not only can they go and listen to music, read blogs ,watch videos of fellow autistics, etc., etc. there’s so much on this app! They then know that there is a community of people out there that think they are really awesome.
So why don’t you join us? It’s very easy. It is a website app. You don’t even have to go to the App Store and download it onto your phone. You just have to type in TeamAwesomism.app fill out the required information which isn’t much, it’s totally free! Then you can be a part of a community that is helping to change the lives for so many autistic adults.

One more thing and I really want to emphasize this, we have a penpal program on the app. This penpal program is one of the best things I’ve ever seen. The penpal program is where seniors… Autistic adult adults… And veterans with PTSD will receive a card in the mail up to three times a year.
The cards are sent from one of the autistic adults that is a part of Team Awesomism! When you join the app, you can register on that page for cards!. It’s very self-explanatory and you will know that we really do care!
