We all need that coffee break! Now before you say I don’t drink coffee… I don’t like coffee… I don’t always mean actual coffee. What I’m talking about here is that time that we have that his personal time. We all have different ideas of what we want to do during a personal break!
My personal break time has changed so much over the last years. When my children were young, just being able to take a bath and relax for 20 minutes was a huge getaway time for me.
Although, I do have to admit that I used to have this one little break… That I really cherished. A friend of mine and I would go and stay at a hotel… for a night and just have girl time and laugh and relax and hang out.
We went near the airport because then we felt like we really were away! Being a mom… Especially a mom of four, who homeschooled, and worked from home, I really needed time away .
As my children got older… My “alone time“ changed quite a bit. Like now Peyton is the only child living with us, so having alone time is a lot easier. Plus, he’s an adult and has his own area of the house. The second floor of our house is his…
But I still need that “coffee break” where all I do is veg out… Relax, but more importantly, I really need it, so that everything around me doesn’t remind me of what I am not doing. I still love to take hot baths but now i get to binge watch shows without MOM being yelled LOL!
I work from home, I tend to never turn off working so to speak. Peyton and I own TeamAwesomism Virtual Academy together.
I absolutely love what we do, but I have to admit it is a lot of stress. Both Peyton and I work very hard, and work a lot of hours every single week.
The virtual Academy is a passion project/business. Ever since I started blogging in 2015, I have wanted to make a difference in autism families lives. Help them Turn Autism into Awesomism.
The older Peyton got, the more I realized how little there really is out there for autistic adults and their families.
That is the reason why the virtual Academy is so important to me. Part of the stress also is, that we are absolutely adamant that the virtual Academy stay free for all autistic adults.
The reason why I feel so strongly about this is, because the autistic families that need help the most, are usually the ones who can afford it the least .
That’s why they’re in the situation they are, that’s why it’s so important for me to keep this free!
We are running this on a shoestring budget right now, and all we are doing is asking other people to pay a membership fee of $40 a year, so that we can keep the virtual Academy free. This is also how we can help others become more accepting and understanding of Autism.
This puts a lot of stress on me, because I have to do a lot of work. I’m not complaining, I’m just saying I especially know that I need that “coffee break“ so that I don’t burn myself out.
The mission of the business… And no we are not a 501(c)(3)… We are an LLC… Is way too important and it has to be done!
I’ve had to really incorporate the “coffee break“ into my routine! That way I can be the best that I can be, so that both Peyton and I can really turn TeamAwesomism Virtual Academy into an amazing experience and community for autistic adults. A few years ago I also wrote a book about this… Here’s the link to my book. I’m probably the worst at actually taking that break… But I’m really trying to get myself to sit down and have a “coffee break”. Please share with me how you have incorporated a coffee break into your life…
As always thank you so much for reading my blog, and please share this with your friends and family and don’t forget to check out Team Awesomism Virtual Academy!
