One of the biggest topics nowadays, especially on social media is self-care. It is something that each and everyone of us really truly need to not only be aware of, but to actually practice.
We all have our different versions of what self-care really is, because we all live different lives, have different stresses, different anxieties and triggers etc.
What may work for me, may not work for you. Having said that… There are some commonalities among all self-care.
In this blog I’m going to do a “mini interview”… With Peyton about how he defines self care for him. I can tell you for an absolute fact, that he has designed this routine of self-care for himself, by himself. It definitely seems to work 90% of the time.
I am in absolutely firm believer in self-care, I know I need it with my GAD… General anxiety disorder. There are days that it is very difficult for me to even function.
I try not to continuously talk about it, because not only do I know that other people don’t want to hear about it all the time… But I don’t wanna hear myself talk about it all the time!
I’ve sat down with Peyton and told him that is fully acceptable and actually I encouraged him, to have his own routine of self-care. I can’t make that for him.. because I don’t know what truly will get him to calm down. These are the following six things that he has told me really do help with his stress/anxiety/autism.
1. Human touch massage chair
2. Tex ( our dog)
3. Socks
4. Weighted Blanket
5. Lavender
6. coloring… drawing
I’m sure you’re really wondering about number three… the other five are pretty self-explanatory.
Ever since Peyton has been little, he has loved socks. He’s always worn socks… When he was real little, it was very hard to get him to wear sandals because he always wanted to have socks on!
He has worn a lot of different socks over the years, some he has liked, others he can’t stand.
Couple of months ago a company called SmartKnit… Sent us a couple of pair of socks.. one white and one in black, they are seamless socks they hug your feet.. Peyton absolutely loves these socks. While socks may not matter to some of us, they really matter to him and I’m sure there are others out there, who feel the same way. I highly suggest you check into these socks. I wore them a couple times when I could get Peyton to share… They are wonderful… Here is the link.
Like I said earlier in the blog self-care for Peyton is so important to him and I… I want him to not stress and be anxious. These six items REALLY do help.
